Ever since the first iPhone found its way in the Smartphone market in 2007, consumers and pundits have collectively held their breath waiting to see a device as revolutionary as the first ever with each new release. To most pundits, though, each year has brought something just evolutionary with some slight improvement on its predecessors. At face value this was the reaction most people had towards the iPhone 5. The fact that it featured almost similar features, and came at the same price tag, meant that little if any, change was made.
Rest assured though that you can never judge a book by its cover. First looks can be deceiving. While this Smartphone is not as revolutionary especially after all the media speculations that went round on the internet, you can bet it is far from evolutionary. This is where a large screen, unrivaled speed, thin case, and super light device that is much portable makes all the difference in the world, especially when compared to the other previous models.
The specifications and features of the iPhone 5 are more or less like those of its predecessors, with slight improvements. One thing that is however worth taking a closer look at is the iOS 6. This is the operating system that comes with this revolutionary device that has taken the technology world by storm. Some of the notable benefits of the iOS 6 include panoramic photos, improved camera software that captures the most exclusive images one could hope for, new and convenient options for answering to calls, Facebook and twitter integration, enhanced Siri features, Passbook, and a whole lot more.
These are just some of the highlights of this operating system. On the flip side of the coin, when compared to its predecessor, the YouTube app and the Maps apps are notably missing. You can however fix the YouTube app by simply downloading it from iTunes and you will be good to go. When it comes to the Maps apps, though, Apple decided to replace the Google Maps data that most people found convenient in underlie Maps with an amalgamation of third-party and homegrown data. This is the only flaw iPhone 5 users have had to deal with.
Keep in mind though that one man’s meat is another man’s poison. You will actually notice the Maps apps flaw if you are the kind of person who uses your device as your primary navigation tool. Even so, Apple knew all too well to ensure there is a handy turn-by-turn directions feature and a user-friendly interface that will ensure you are good to go wherever you are.
Bottom line
The iPhone 5 is one very impressive device that lived up to its promise of changing communication and connecting people to the outside world in a seamless, effortless, and affordable way. While some may argue that the price tag is way too high, the features packed on there are more than worth every penny you spent, and the fact that you will not need another device to make up for the flaws since it has all that a modern tech savvy person needs, means it will be a good return on your investment on your part.
